Tuition Awards on Sponsored Projects
Tuition awards for Graduate Assistants are a benefit provided by the Provost’s Office for Graduate Assistants working on sponsored projects that meet the following criteria:
- Full indirect cost recovery, or maximum indirect allowed by sponsor
- The student must work 20 hours a week on the sponsored project during the entire term in which tuition is requested (semester or academic year). Students are paid via the Stipend Form, indicating 100% of stipend from the grant/sponsored project source.
No fees, including late fees, are covered by the tuition award.
If any of these criteria are not met, the tuition award will not be granted. The criteria will not be waived under any circumstances.
Contact the Provost Office with any questions about eligibility.
If faculty believe they have a situation that warrants a tuition award that does not meet the criteria outlined above, the matter should be discussed with the respective Department Chair and/or Dean to identify alternate sources of funding.
Faculty who wish to apply for tuition awards should contact their college onboarding specialist.
Roles & Responsibilities
Faculty are responsible for contacting their college onboarding specialist who will assist them with completing the paperwork.
The Office of Grants & Contracts (OG&C) will determine that all of the criteria is met and will forward the request to the Provost’s Office.
The Provost Office will set up the award with the Bursar’s Office and answer any questions about eligibility.
NOTE: Inclusion of tuition requests in Cayuse SP records does not guarantee that the tuition award will be made.
