Battery Recycling
As Villanova University strives to achieve Zero Waste, we aim to optimize recycling on campus by providing access to programs that make it easier to recycle a wide variety of materials.
For large quantities of batteries, or batteries heavier than 1 pound, please submit an FMO work request for safe collection and recycling.
Starting in late Fall 2023, we have deployed several collections bins throughout campus to accept small batteries. In these bins, we are accepting small alkaline, lithium-ion, lead acid, and batteries of other chemistries. Please use the supplied tape dispenser mounted inside of the bin to tape battery terminals before disposal.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!! DO NOT PLACE SWOLLEN OR DAMAGED BATTERIES INSIDE THE BATTERY RECYCLING BINS.
Lithium batteries can be very dangerous if mishandled, and pose significant risk for fire. If you have any questions about battery safety, or if you have swollen or damaged batteries, please contact the team at the Villanova University Environmental Health & Safety office.
