TAILGATE ON THE GREEN
Tailgate on the Green presented by Wegman’s will be offered twice this football season for students and families to enjoy, first during Family Weekend on Saturday, Sept. 28 and again during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 26.
During Tailgate on the Green, the University invites all to Mendel Field to enjoy the free flagship Community Tent where families can play games, socialize and enjoy food and refreshments (beer and wine will be available for purchase by those 21 and over). Surrounding the fun in the Community Tent will be smaller, 10’x10’ individual tents that families can secure to enjoy prior to the game.
FAMILY WEEKEND
SEPTEMBER 27-29, 2024
Join us for a tailgate on Mendel Field prior to the Villanova vs. Long Island University football game on Saturday, September 28. A limited amount of individual tailgate tent spots will be available for purchase. Mendel Field will be transformed into a tent village with our FREE flagship Community Tent, where all are invited to enjoy games, food and refreshments (beer and wine available for purchase by those 21 and over). Surrounding this Community Tent will be individual tents. Tent registrants are responsible for bringing their own food and drink and disposing of trash.
Individual tents for Family Weekend Tailgate on the Green will be made available via a lottery process. Students interested in entering the lottery must complete the lottery form at any time between Wednesday, July 31 and Friday, September 6 at 11:50 p.m. Eastern time. Each student may enter the lottery once, and each student will have equal weight in the lottery. Students registered for the lottery will be randomly selected and notified by email on Monday, September 9 of their status. Those offered a tent via the lottery must make payment by Friday, September 13 at 5 p.m. Eastern time to secure their tent. Any tents that are not paid for by 5 p.m. Eastern time on September 13 will be released to those selected next in the lottery.
Important: Only current VU students may enter the lottery using their Villanova log-in credentials. Parents and family interested in a tailgate tent for Family Weekend should coordinate with their student to ensure they enter the lottery and are paying attention to any relevant emails.
The cost of each 10'x15' space is $350 and includes one 10’x10’ tent, one 6-foot-long table (hosts up to 20 people), a tablecloth and a trash can.
Please note that tailgating is not permitted in other areas of campus, including parking garages and lots. All event and Tailgate on the Green tent purchases are non-refundable at the time of purchase. All events will take place rain or shine.

Information regarding the Tailgate on the Green tent registration process for Homecoming (October 25-27, 2024) will be released later this fall.
