Villanova University President, the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, has announced the launch of a $1.25 billion comprehensive capital campaign, Espiritus Nova: The Campaign for Villanova University. The University begins the public phase of its campaign—the most ambitious fundraising effort in Villanova’s 182-year history—having already raised more than $640 million towards its $1.25 billion goal.
This Fall Break, Villanova University students and faculty will travel to Rome for a special pilgrimage as part of The Church and Transformation, a course offered this semester by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The trip will coincide with the month-long General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, where Villanova’s cohort will join peers from 14 Catholic colleges across the U.S. to experience the global Synod on Communion, Participation and Mission.
Villanova University to Host Special Olympics Pennsylvania Fall Festival for 36th Consecutive Year
Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s annual Fall Festival is returning to Villanova University November 1-3, marking the 36th consecutive year Villanova has hosted the largest student-run Special Olympics event in the world. More than 1,000 athletes, 400 coaches and 5,000 volunteers representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are set to participate.
Villanova Professor at the Forefront of Work to Tackle Quantum Threats
Experts predict that by 2035, quantum computers could crack encryption codes that secure everyday transactions and data. Jiafeng Xie, PhD, associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is at the forefront of this battle, using his Security and Cryptography Lab to strengthen security measures against the threat of quantum computers.
