RESOURCES AND OPPORTUNITIES

Russian Culture Club

The student-led Russian Area Studies Club celebrates and promote an understanding of Russian and Slavic cultures, foods and language.

Dobro Slovo National Slavic Studies Honor Society, Epsilon Nu Chapter

Dobro Slovo was originally founded as a local Slavic Honorary Society on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley on October 29, 1926. In 1963, the National Slavic Honor Society—Dobro Slovo—was founded. The Society serves as a means for the recognition of academic excellence in the study that provides incentive for scholarly interest in Slavic languages, literature, history and culture. The Society was patterned after existing honorary organizations in other fields. Every year, the Russian Area Studies program invites high achieving students to be inducted into this honors society.

Olga Foltz Memorial Summer Language Study Scholarship

Named in honor of a former instructor and student of Villanova University, the Olga Foltz Memorial Summer Language Scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to a currently-enrolled Villanova student aspiring to improve his/her Russian language skills through an accredited summer immersion program.

Tirelessly working towards her undergraduate degree while simultaneously teaching Russian language drills and working for Villanova University Dining Services, Olga Foltz’s life exemplified Villanova’s commitment to academic excellence and personal achievement. The scholarship established in her name aspires to foster the promotion of these same values as it aids a worthy student dedicated to the study of Russian language and culture.

College and University Resources

In addition to resources and opportunities through the Russian Area Studies program, Villanova provides support to undergraduate students in all aspects of their collegiate experience and beyond through the centralized services of the Office for Undergraduate StudentsOffice of Education Abroad and Career Center.
