Dr. David Jamison Named Fellow of Biomedical Engineering Society

David Jamison, PhD, associate dean of Undergraduate Affairs for Villanova’s College of Engineering and a teaching professor of Mechanical Engineering, will be inducted this fall as a Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES).

The professional organization’s Fellow grade honors members who have made significant contributions to the field of biomedical engineering (BME). Dr. Jamison was recognized for “his record of research and teaching excellence in biomedical engineering, and development of a BME minor program at his institution,” according to BMES. He is one of 30 inductees to the BMES Grade of Fellow Class of 2023.

“I am honored to have been named a BMES Fellow,” says Dr. Jamison, who also serves on the BMES board of directors. “It’s a distinction I now share with some of the great pioneers and luminaries of our field. I look forward to continuing the important work of advancing BME education.”

A biomedical engineer with experience in industry and academia, Dr. Jamison joined Villanova in 2022 from DePuy-Synthes, a Johnson & Johnson medical device company, where he was a clinical research scientist. He had previously served the College of Engineering as a visiting assistant professor and an adjunct professor in Mechanical Engineering. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Mechanics from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University.

Dr. Jamison and his fellow inductees will be honored in October during the 2023 BMES Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington.

Founded in 1968, BMES is the professional society for students, faculty, researchers and industry professionals in biomedical engineering. The organization includes more than 6,800 members from academia and industry.
