The Idea Lab is a gathering space for individuals from all corners of campus to collaborate on innovative, multicurriclary, and cross-college projects.


The Idea Lab also includes a Maker Lab. Whether you’re a nursing student looking to create a 3D prototype of a new medical apparatus or an engineering student who wants to motorize a skateboard, the Maker Lab has you covered. Equipped with a plethora of tools (3D printers, laser cutter, sewing machine, drill press, Cricut, wrenches, etc.) and helpful staff, it’s a welcoming space for everyone to learn and create. 


The Idea Lab is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Idea Lab is located on the lower level of Falvey Memorial Library (Building #18 on this Campus Map). Once you enter the library, take the stairwell immediately to your right down one level. Proceed down the hallway and make a left and you will arrive at the Idea Lab.



The maximum seated capacity for the Idea Lab is 97 without tables. With tables, you can comfortably fit about 50 people. And about 125 people without chairs or tables.

  • Small refrigerator

The IIE Maker Lab is open to all Villanova students, faculty, and staff.

If you’re unfamiliar with our equipment, please schedule a training with a staff member (email and we’ll get you up to speed.

Keep all tools in the lab and be sure to put them back when you're finished.
