Where Law Meets Business

Today’s lawyers practice more than just law. They often serve their clients as business consultants, problem solvers and financial strategists. Employers look for legal professionals who can read a financial statement as well as they can write an opening statement, and have not only first-rate analytic skills, but also the real-world experiences necessary to hit the ground running on day one of practice.

Villanova Law is continuously revolutionizing its curriculum by pushing the boundaries of traditional instruction and infusing business coursework into every student’s education. Guided by the Where Law Meets Business philosophy, our programming infuses vital business fundamentals, professional skills, ethical training and practical experience into the foundational legal education. Through critical coursework, week-long mandatory Business Modules, six clinics and 275+ externship placements each year, Villanova students learn by doing so they graduate with the knowledge and skills needed for success.

“Employers seek skilled attorneys with academic, professional and practical expertise,” said Mark C. Alexander, The Arthur J. Kania Dean of the Charles Widger School of Law. “At Villanova Law, we reimagined legal education based on our Where Law Meet Business ideology to provide students with these crucial skills, and prime them for diverse and rewarding legal careers.”

The John F. Scarpa Center for Entrepreneurship and Law brings this philosophy to life through unique and innovative Business Modules, which introduce students to key concepts that are fundamental to success in the legal profession but traditionally are not taught in law schools.
