Pair of Villanova Engineering Professors Receive Prestigious U.S. Fulbright Scholar Awards
Villanova professors of Electrical and Computer Engineering, James Peyton Jones, PhD and Pritpal Singh, PhD, have been selected to receive U.S. Fulbright Scholar grants by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. The two professors have dedicated their careers to humanitarian engineering and will expand their efforts during the 2022-2023 academic year as Fulbright Scholars.

Villanova University's Aaron Bauer, PhD, professor of Biology and Gerald M. Lemole, MD, Endowed Chair in Integrative Biology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is the principal investigator on a grant from the National Science Foundation to support his project, “Collaborative Research: Assessing the Systematics and Diversity of Haemosporida in African lizards.”

Villanova Theatre Professor James Ijames receives the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Drama
James Ijames, associate professor of Theatre in Villanova University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the 2022 Pulitzer Prize Winner in Drama. The Pulitzer Prize for Drama is given to a distinguished play by an American author, preferably original in its source and dealing with American life.

Villanovan to be Appointed to Commission on Presidential Scholars
President of the United States Joseph R. Biden, Jr., announced his intent to appoint 21 new members to the Commission on Presidential Scholars, among those Neil J. Horgan, Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Villanova University. The announcement was made by The White House in a press release, Friday, July 15.

Villanova Scientist Part of Team Producing First Image of Black Hole in Our Galaxy
Joey Neilsen, PhD, assistant professor of Physics, is a part of a team of astronomers that unveiled the first image of the supermassive black hole at the center of our own Milky Way galaxy. The findings yield valuable clues about the workings of these massive objects believed to live at the center of most galaxies. The image was produced after years of work by a global research team called the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration using observations from a worldwide network of radio telescopes.
