EMPLOYERS
In today's competitive market, employers need law graduates who will add value to their organizations and provide expert client counsel from the start.
At Villanova Law, we're training our graduates to be the professionals you want: ethically grounded lawyers who complement their deep doctrinal knowledge with first-rate writing abilities, practical legal experience, strong professional skills and an understanding of foundational business principles.
The Villanova Law Difference
LEGAL WRITING
Whether drafting a contract or persuasively arguing on a client's behalf, lawyers must possess top-notch writing skills. Villanova Law students receive intensive legal writing training, including 12 mandatory credits of coursework. We teach them to think and write like practicing attorneys.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Villanova Law students gain valuable knowledge and skills for the workplace through our mandatory Professional Development coursework. The three-year program covers key topics such as project management; diversity, equity and inclusion; professional independence; ethics and values; and communication skills.
LAW AND BUSINESS
Whether representing a corporate client or leading a nonprofit, attorneys need to understand and apply business principles. Every Villanova Law student learns to connect vital business concepts with the everyday practice of law in mandatory business modules that put princicples such as valuation and legal project management into place while they work through real-life legal scenarios.
REAL-WORLD WORK EXPERIENCE
Some skills are best learned on the job. At Villanova Law, all students gain hands-on legal training through participation in either an externship or clinic experience. Students with externships have placements with nonprofit, government, firms and corporate organizations, while in our six in-house clinics, students represent real clients as they face real legal issues. Both expose students to invaluable experiences that will impact their future careers.
“Villanova students quickly grasp complicated legal issues and have excellent research, writing and analytical skills. They take great pride in all they do and always deliver the highest caliber work product."
