Lisa Riley '20

Lisa Riley ’20 has been named a recipient of the 2019 Judge William M. Marutani Fellowship, which is awarded to students who show a commitment to public service. The Fellowship provides a stipend for a summer internship with a nonprofit public interest organization or with a federal, state or municipal government in Pennsylvania. The Fellowship was established by the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA) in conjunction with the Philadelphia Bar Foundation.

“I'm grateful and honored to be a Marutani Fellow this summer,” Riley stated. “Judge Marutani's commitment to public service and the Philadelphia and Asian American community is something I aspire to achieve through my legal career. The Marutani Fellowship gives me the opportunity to continue to pursue a career in public interest and I am looking forward to serving as a legal intern for the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project this summer.”

As a 2L, Riley served as a Co-President of the Asian-Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA). She has interned with Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Jackson Cross Partners, LLC, and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
