WHY MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS?
Our faculty earn recognition for their innovative teaching and grants for their relevant research. Our students reap the benefits—working alongside faculty on their research.
We offer a variety of courses pertinent to interdisciplinary fields and topics of interest. Students can take courses like coding theory, cryptography, data science, biostatistics and history of mathematics.
We have several student organizations, including Math Club, Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and Villanova Society of Actuaries.
Villanova often hosts the annual DataFest Philly competition. Put on by the American Statistical Association, DataFest is a nationally-coordinated undergraduate data analysis case competition, where teams of students analyze a complex dataset from a major company and mine it for insights. DataFest has been hosted by colleges and universities around the country every spring since 2011.
