Associate Professor Patricia K. Bradley, PhD, RN, FAAN, Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence, has been selected as a member of the newly established Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (ADLN).

Dr. Bradley will be one of 176 Fellows of the inaugural class to be inducted on Thursday, July 25, 2024, during the 52nd Annual Institute and Conference of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) in San Francisco, Calif. Members of the inaugural class of fellows have demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of nursing education, research, practice, policy or administration as it relates to issues of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI).

“Pat consistently demonstrates leadership in promoting diversity and inclusive excellence through innovative approaches in academic nursing and the nursing workforce,” said Donna S. Havens, PhD, RN, FAAN, Connelly Endowed Dean and Professor. “I’m thrilled that she is receiving this well-deserved recognition from the National Black Nurses Association.”

Dr. Bradley is among a group of Luminary ADLN Fellows, who have at least 30 years of experience in nursing and continue to open doors for greater JEDI in nursing while they continue their innovative, groundbreaking work.

“It has been said that those closest to the problem are the ones who are closest to the solutions,” said inaugural ADLN President Kenya V. Beard, EdD, RN, AGACNP-BC, ANEF, FAAN. “Indeed, we will harness our collective strengths to advance the nursing profession and enhance the quality of health care for all.”

Throughout her career, Dr. Bradley has applied her expertise in psychiatric mental health nursing, psychosocial adjustment to illness/trauma, adolescent mental health and health equity issues in her research, practice, service and publications. Her April 1, 2024, guest editorial in the Journal of Nursing Education, Using Inclusive Language in Nursing Education: When Words Matter,” has particular relevance today. At Villanova, Dr. Bradley also collaborates with faculty, staff and students to foster an inclusive environment where all are respected, accepted, and valued.
