ABOUT THE CENTER
Villanova University’s Center for Political Theology advances discussions of religion and politics that engage deeply with the Christian tradition and speak broadly to pressing issues of the day.
In 2017 and 2019 Villanova University received a pair of grants totaling $550,000 from the Henry Luce Foundation to support the creation of The Political Theology Network, an interdisciplinary association of scholars exploring the intersection of religion and politics. In 2021 the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences launched the Center for Political Theology with Vincent Lloyd, PhD, as the inaugural director—who was a key leader in building the Political Theology Network, now a project of the Center.
The Political Theology Network's cornerstone activities are its national conferences, bringing together scholars across the disciplines interested in political theology.
