Call for Faculty Fellow
Starting Fall 2026
Application Deadline: Friday, January 9, 2026
The Center for Peace and Justice Education (CPJE) invites applications from full-time faculty members (TT or CNT) for the CPJE Faculty Fellows program for a two-year position to begin in Fall 2026. This program increases the Center’s collaboration with other departments/colleges and lays the groundwork for the expansion of interdisciplinary Peace and Justice offerings. In addition, Faculty Fellows contribute at the university level to strengthen research possibilities for Villanova students, CPJE’s lectures and events, and future opportunities for CPJE graduates and alumni.
The selected faculty member will become a member of the Center’s steering committee and will take on the responsibility for teaching one PJ foundational course per year over the course of their two-year fellowship (e.g., PJ 2800: Race, Class, and Gender). In order to facilitate this, Fellows are required to secure a single course release per year from the Chair of their home department, documented as part of the application process.
Faculty Fellows will also serve as co-chair of the Adela Dwyer–St. Thomas of Villanova Peace Award Committee during the two years of their fellowship with the Center. Chairing this university-level committee involves facilitation of a process to identify recommended recipients for the annual award.
Faculty Fellows will be invited to offer input for CPJE programming, student organizations, and various initiatives. They will also be invited to attend the Center’s major events throughout the year. The faculty member may elect to serve on one of the Center’s other committees and is encouraged to assist the Center in its faculty outreach efforts around the university as well as the cultivation of contacts beyond the university.
Office space and other research, teaching, and service commitments will remain in the faculty member’s home department over the course of their fellowship.
Compensation
In order to provide a sufficient incentive and recognition of the extra work being assumed beyond current commitments, the Center for Peace and Justice Education will compensate the Faculty Fellow with a stipend of $1,500 per semester ($3,000 annually).
CPJE Faculty Fellows’ Responsibilities

- Serve as Co-Chair of the Adela Dwyer–St. Thomas of Villanova Peace Award Committee during the two years of their fellowship with the Center
- Additional contributions can vary depending on interest and expertise (e.g. serve as advisor for PJ senior thesis, offer session at Freedom School, assist with PJ Faculty/Staff Book Club, etc.

CPJE Visiting Faculty Initiative
For many years, the Center for Peace and Justice Education welcomed two visiting faculty members internal to the Villanova community. Because of the success of our Visiting Faculty program, we've introduced a new Faculty Fellow Initiative, explained above. We are incredibly grateful for our colleagues who have shared their time, expertise, and friendship with us at the Center. We are better off for it. Thank you.
