MA IN THEATRE WITH CERTIFICATE IN NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT
This program combines the scholarly, creative and practical curriculum of the MA in Theatre with a certificate designed to facilitate a career in the nonprofit sector.
In addition to the theater curriculum, you will take a course in Theatre Administration and four courses from Villanova’s Master of Public Administration Program in Nonprofit Management:
- Financial Management of Nonprofits
- Effective Nonprofit Management
- Nonprofit Fundraising
- One elective
This unique combination of creative, practical theatre and nonprofit management expertise can position you for a sustainable career in the nonprofit sector.
In addition to traditional theatre curriculum, you will take Theatre Management (offered by the Theatre Department) and four courses from Villanova’s Master of Public Administration program:
- Financial Management (MPA 8003)
- Effective Nonprofit Management (MPA 8600)
- Fundraising for Nonprofit Organizations (MPA 8700)
- One elective
The MA in Theatre is 36 credits. The Certificate in Non-Profit Management is 15 credits. In order to combine the MA in Theatre with the certificate, an additional three credits are needed, bringing the total number of credits for students who plan to do both to 39 credits. Please note that all students receiving funding will have to pay for the additional three credits.
The Public Administration program offers a variety of exciting one-credit courses that are offered on three consecutive Saturday mornings in each semester. These courses broaden one's skill set and make achieving the extra three credits necessary to complete the certificate achievable while balancing academics and theatre production.
When you begin your application for the MA in Theatre, you can choose the Certificate in Non-Profit Management as your secondary program. Applicants must be accepted into the Theatre program and the Public Administration program separately.
