Villanova Wildcat and NFL Player Uses MPA Skills to Give Back
Austin Calitro ’17 CLAS, ’21 MPA graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor's degree in communication in 2017. During his time at Villanova, he distinguished himself as a dedicated and accomplished student-athlete while being a stand-out on the football field. His passion for learning and his drive for excellence were evident in all his academic and athletic pursuits. Calitro's journey at Villanova laid the foundation for his future success. After completing his undergraduate work, Calitro pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Villanova while also competing at the highest level of football, the NFL.
Villanova’s MPA program was a great opportunity for Calitro to demonstrate his knowledge and expertise in public service and gain the skills and knowledge necessary to positively impact his community. Villanova’s flexible, online program allowed Calitro to earn his master’s degree even while working through the rigors and demanding schedule of the NFL.
Throughout his six-year NFL career, he inspired countless aspiring athletes and demonstrated the importance of perseverance and hard work by showing his talent, dedication and commitment to the game. What truly sets Calitro apart is his unwavering commitment to giving back to the community, which is why he was drawn to pursue his MPA at Villanova. He has tirelessly worked to support and uplift those in need, utilizing his platform to make a difference. From organizing charity events and fundraising campaigns to mentoring young athletes, Calitro's dedication to community service is nothing short of extraordinary.
