There is a range of University and community resources for better mental health and overall well-being available to Villanova University employees. Click on the resources below to learn more.

Health Advocate

The Health Advocate services cover full-time, benefits eligible faculty and staff along with their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law.

A licensed EAP professional can provide short-term counseling by phone or email, to help you better cope with personal, family and work issues. The Work/Life specialists can assist you with locating the right support services, from childcare and eldercare to legal help. This includes up to 5 in person free counseling sessions per issue per year.

Independence Blue Cross 

Care Navigation Services IBC can help members find outpatient behavioral health providers; members call (800) 688-1911 to reach a Behavioral Health Care Advocate who performs a screening to determine if members need to talk with clinicians from the Triage team.

Behavioral Health Care Advocates can also identify if members need urgent behavioral health appointments and, whenever possible, will attempt to connect the member to a behavioral health provider using direct scheduling or warm transfers.

Teladoc Telebehavioral Health Support for conditions such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, trauma, adjustment disorders, E-prescribing (when appropriate), etc.​

Visits are held with a licensed health care professional (including psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors).

Self-guided digital content offers personalized, evidence-based programs and dedicated support for a wide range of topics, including stress, depression, chronic pain, work-life balance, substance use, and anxiety. Members can access the digital resource 24/7 on via computer or using the Teladoc mobile app.​

Shatterproof An independent company that provides behavioral health services for IBC; offers a quality measurement system to find addiction treatment facilities for members (Shatterproof’s Treatment Atlas tool).​

Public Health Campaigns #mindPHL and Know Your Mind: joint projects with Philadelphia that share information about free mental health resources and programs.​

Little Otter uses a family-first approach, which recognizes that when one part of a family unit struggles, it can impact everyone. 

Blackbird Health provides diagnostic evaluations and treatment for kids ages 2 – 26 who are struggling with social, developmental, and school-related challenges. 

Handspring Health uses a virtual, evidence-based care model to treat common conditions affecting kids ages 8 – 24, including depression, family issues, anger management, and child behavioral disorders.

Joon is a virtual care model designed to address common issues experienced by teens and young adults, ages 13 – 26. Their clinical team treats anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health challenges.

eM Life

eM Life is a live and on-demand mindfulness solution to help you build skills to manage stress and anxiety, improve focus, and enhance your overall wellbeing. eM Life is available to you, your spouse, and your dependents as part of your benefits package.

Live, expert-led mindfulness classes held multiple times a day to help you feel better and live healthier. Hundreds of hours of on-demand content on a wide range of topics including stress, sleep, and chronic conditions. Connect with mindfulness experts for support with your practice. Meditation timer to help build and sustainhealthy habits.

Wellbeats

Find support for what you need whenever you need it most. With Wellbeats Wellness, you can privately access a variety of self-paced mental health programs to build better health. This includes:

Nutrition Counseling

Nutritional counseling with a registered dietitian can help people improve their mental health by addressing their nutrition and eating habits. It can help with: managing symptoms, improving mood, improving body image, improving overall wellbeing and more. Villanova employees, spouses, and dependents with a Villanova medical plan can receive 6 free nutrition counseling sessions per plan year.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA’s) National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.
