Graduate Studies in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering

Wetland, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering

Whether pursuing the degree part time as a working professional or full time with a focus on research, students in Villanova’s Master’s in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering program work with some of the nation’s leading experts in related fields. Our graduates pursue and advance in careers in industry, the non-profit sector, public utilities, education and government agencies.

These are among the courses available in the Water Resources and Environmental Engineering program. Students may develop an interdisciplinary degree that includes geotechnical engineering courses:

  • Geosynthetics
  • Environmental Fluids
  • Urban Hydraulics and Stormwater Management
  • River Mechanics and Engineering
  • Surface Water Hydrology

For those interested in a research experience, Villanova University’s campus serves as a living laboratory for the Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems and Villanova Urban Stormwater Partnership. Our Green infrastructure Stormwater Research Park features many instrumented stormwater control measures on sites that include a green roof, infiltration trench, stormwater wetland, multiple bioretention and bioinfiltration control measures, pervious pavements, bio-swale, and a treatment train.

In addition to the Master’s in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, the College offers certificates in Urban Water Resources Design and Dam Engineering. These can be earned as part of the degree program or as standalone certificates. A PhD program is also available.

One graduate says..

"The MSWREE graduate program has had a tremendous impact on my career as a consulting engineer. The program features a wide array of courses that are very relevant to my everyday projects in the civil and environmental engineering industry. Furthermore, the professors do an excellent job engaging both in-class and E-learning students in the lecture discussions. As an E-learning student in New York City, not once have I felt 100 miles away."
