MBT courses integrate substantive tax principles and concepts with analytics and modelling skillsets. The MBT program exposes students to various technologies used in tax settings and positions candidates for consulting roles within taxation. MBT programs are differentiated from Master of Taxation programs which are commonly taught from a qualitative perspective and focus on tax principles and policies.

A Master of Business Taxation, like Villanova’s MBT program, is designed for those seeking a career as a tax professional within the accounting industry, including consulting roles within taxation. The MBT program provides advanced coursework in tax and accounting with quantitative applications in modeling, data, analytics and technology. The curriculum covers in-depth topics such as the impact of taxation on business operations and planning, corporate and partnership taxation, mergers and acquisitions, international taxation, state and local taxation, and tax research, policy and ethics.

A Master of Accounting, like Villanova’s MAC program, is geared for those seeking a career within audit or advisory services, corporate finance, forensic accounting or as a financial analyst. The MAC curriculum integrates data analytics with other essential skills, such as valuation, risk, tax, fraud and qualitative skills, to prepare students to become multi-dimensional accountants.
