As a nurse taking care of our tiniest patients, I am awed at the response of my colleagues. Treating a micro-preemie in isolation takes on a whole new level of stress when you know it’s just you and the baby. Help isn’t going to be immediate if you need it; alerting coworkers to the need, keeping the baby stable, and waiting for help to don PPE takes time! I know my assessment and critical thinking skills that were taught to me at VU serve me well every day.  Being the one to care for each baby when parents and family cannot visit, I can attribute to the value of compassionate care I was taught as well. My nursing skills are also serving me well as I try to keep my family safe at home.

I am so proud to be a part of this family of amazing nurses. Seeing my own colleagues work so very hard day in and day out, and handle every obstacle thrown their way is inspiring. We will all get through this together.
