EDUCATION & TRAINING

Education & Training Requirements

The Villanova University community takes a strong interest in how our society cares for children and the most vulnerable among us. We strongly encourage all members of the University community to learn about the signs of child abuse and neglect and what can and should be done to stop it.

For Villanova University employees and others participating in a Villanova University youth program, the following education and training requirements are mandatory.

STEP 1.

ALL ADULTS participating in a Villanova University Youth Program need to complete the Villanova University Working with Minors: Youth Protection Training online training course. You will receive a certificate of completion and submit it as indicated below.

  • Villanova students can access the training on Blackboard.
    • The easiest way to access Blackboard is through myNOVA. To access myNOVA, visit https://mynova.villanova.edu/ and click the "Sign In" link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
    • After signing in, enter Blackboard by clicking on the Blackboard Learn tile.
    • Select the Villanova secure access login.
    • Select Browse Organization Catalog and search for Minors Youth Protection Training.
    • Hover over the organization ID (compliance_ypt) and select the down arrow to Enroll.
    • Select Submit and OK.
    • Read and follow the directions under Minors Youth Protection Program to access the video, quiz, and certificate of completion. An 80% or higher is required to obtain the certificate of completion. Multiple attempts are allowed.
    • The certificate should be uploaded to the Student Volunteer’s Personalized URL.
  • VU employees can access the training in the Learn@Nova platform via MyNova at https://mynova.villanova.edu/ and search for Bridge. The course is titled Working with Minors Youth Protection Training.
  • Non-VU adults participating in a youth program or activity, including sports camps will be able to access the training in the Learn@Nova platform.  Program Directors who have Non-VU adults participating in their program will need to request access to the Learn@Nova system by contacting either Beth Wright or Donna Poupard.
  • Program Directors may choose to provide the online training to student volunteers as a group. In those instances, student volunteers will receive their certificates of completion from the Program Director.

STEP 2.

If you are either a Program Director or an Adult having Direct Contact with minors (which includes ALL sports camps), you must also complete the "Protecting Children from Sexual Misconduct" offered by United Educators. Upon completing this course, you must obtain either the transcript for the course or the certification form and submit it as indicated below.

EVIDENCE OF COMPLETION

For VU employees, the certification forms for both types of training need to be submitted by the Program Director via the Minors Programs online registration system. If for any reason this is not feasible, please submit the certification forms to the University Compliance Office, 204 Tolentine Hall
