GOOD NEIGHBOR INITIATIVES
GOOD NEIGHBOR INITIATIVES
Education takes place both inside and outside the classroom at Villanova. We're committed to educating our off-campus student population about the importance of being a good neighbor and how it’s vital to ensuring a positive and successful relationship between the University and the community.
CARITAS AWARD
The Caritas Award was established to acknowledge local partners'
contributions to the overall well-being of the Villanova community. This
annual award is given to an individual who works tirelessly to
strengthen connections between Villanova University and the broader
community.
2019 Recipient: Chris Flanagan, Radnor Township Chief of Police
The inaugural Caritas Award was presented to Radnor Township Police Superintendent Chris Flanagan for his leadership and commitment to fostering relationships between Villanova students and neighbors.
Strengthening Relationships with Local Municipalities
Villanova University, Radnor Police Department, Lower Merion Police Department, township officials and many off-campus partners have collaborated to provide an opportunity to speak one-on-one with students about living in the community, being mindful of noise, trash, litter and being safe and smart with their decisions.
The University’s goal is to facilitate positive relations between its students, neighbors and community partners. These partnerships and events foster communication and understanding between students and those living and working around them. Villanova looks forward to continuing to engage students in a positive manner and strengthening community relations in the process.
Supporting Local Business in the Community
Villanova is incredibly thankful to have many dedicated community partners invested in the success of the University and the region. The business community along the Route 30 corridor is thriving and the University is proud to strengthen its partnerships in the local economy throughout the year.
Small Business Panel Discussion and Networking Event
Each semester, the University hosts informative discussions around small business themes and invites local business owners to hear from an esteemed panel while networking with their peers.
Main Line Restaurant Week
Villanova has twice hosted Main Line Restaurant Week in partnership with the Bryn Mawr Business Association, Wayne Business Association and Main Line Today Magazin, with over 50 participating restaurants along the Main Line.
Cohosting Events with Local Economic Drivers
The University hosts many on-campus events for the local business associations and Chambers of Commerce throughout the year.
