Fall 2019 - Women in Business Network Inaugural Event Recap

Women in Business Network Inaugural Event

The Women in Business Network (WIBN) was launched in 2018 in an effort to promote career development and networking opportunities for women. The WIBN hosted its inaugural event on April 23rd entitled "The Career Advice You Probably Didn't Get", based on a TED Talk of the same name. The event took place on Vanguard's campus and offered the opportunity for networking, followed by a panel discussion comprised of industry experts. The panel highlighted many issues uniquely faced by women when striving to move up the corporate ladder. The topics that were covered included the differences in mentoring of women versus men, and the advice that seasoned executives wished they had received early in their careers.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the 110 people who attended the event -- both men and women -- demonstrating tremendous support for the WIBN. We also want to thank everyone for your feedback -- we're happy that you appreciated the candor and honesty of the panelists as well as the networking opportunities afforded by the event.

Our vision for the future of the WIBN is to continue hosting events similar in caliber to our inaugural event, as well as to continue to connect our Villanova MBA alumni with networking opportunities in a corporate setting. As we are one of the newest groups associated with the MBA Board, we warmly invite any of you who are interested in becoming involved with the Women in Business Network to please let our group know. We welcome all levels of involvement -- whether through volunteering to assist with future event planning, or by simply attending our events. We highly encourage both women and men who have an interest in supporting our mission of advancing career development for women to contact our team and to become involved with the WIBN.
