A faculty member from Villanova University’s College of Engineering has been named a recipient of the Early Career Award from the United States Department of Energy (DOE). The award will allow David Cereceda-Senas, PhD, assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering, to advance research in fusion energy. Cereceda is one of 83 recipients for the award nationwide in 2022 and is the first faculty member from Villanova to receive the U.S. DOE Early Career Award.
Villanova University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, announced today that Joyce E. A. Russell, PhD, the Helen and William O’Toole Dean of the Villanova School of Business (VSB), has decided to complete her term as dean at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year. Dr. Russell plans to shift her career focus to her professional passions—teaching students, working on research and writing projects, and continuing her leadership work on several professional boards.
Villanova University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, announced a transformational $7.5 million gift from an anonymous donor to establish the William and Julia Moulden Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This gift will allow the College to invest in key programmatic and student-focused initiatives, while honoring the late William and Julia Moulden, a Black, Catholic couple who provided crucial support to the Augustinian founders of Villanova College in the 19th century. Adele Lindenmeyr, PhD (pictured here) will serve as the inaugural William and Julia Moulden Dean.
Villanova professors of Electrical and Computer Engineering, James Peyton Jones, PhD and Pritpal Singh, PhD, have been selected to receive U.S. Fulbright Scholar grants by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. The two professors have dedicated their careers to humanitarian engineering and will expand their efforts during the 2022-2023 academic year as Fulbright Scholars.

James Ijames, associate professor of Theatre in Villanova University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the 2022 Pulitzer Prize Winner in Drama. The Pulitzer Prize for Drama is given to a distinguished play by an American author, preferably original in its source and dealing with American life.
