Update on Vaccine Availability

April 7, 2021

Dear Students,

Thank you for all you have done this year to put Community First. Your actions have helped Villanova remain open during a global pandemic and are a testament to our community’s ongoing resilience, care and compassion.

We are writing to share that Villanova has secured a limited number of vaccines through the Rite Aid pharmacy vaccination program. Vaccines will initially be available to faculty and staff on April 9 and April 16, prioritizing front-line areas not yet vaccinated.

We hope to be able to offer more vaccine opportunities to our larger community, including students, should more vaccines become available to us. Updates will be shared with the community when new developments occur.

As mentioned in previous communications, Villanova has applied through the Pennsylvania Department of Health to be a vaccine provider site for the University community, but timing for receipt of vaccines through the commonwealth remains unscheduled and unknown. As a result, we are moving forward with this opportunity with Rite Aid. Villanova is continuing to pursue additional options for vaccines, whether through Rite Aid, the commonwealth or other options that emerge.

Thank you for your continued commitment to Community First.

Sincerely,

Kathleen J. Byrnes signature
