VUMobile

Residence Hall Connections

All residence halls on campus are served by the wireless network on campus. Simply connect to VUMobile with your MyNova username and password.

Villanova's wireless network SSID is "VUMobile". To connect, simply click on VUMobile on your computers list of available wireless networks and enter in your Villanova user name and password. This will work for any computer running Windows Vista or higher and Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. Instructions for older operating systems as well as more detailed instructions are linked below.

The properties of the Protected EAP should be revised as follows:

1. Add the server as1.villanova.edu, as2.villanova.edu, as3.villanova.edu, aaa.villanova.edu to the Connect to these servers box. 

2. Check the AddTrust External CA Root under Trusted Root Certification Authorities.

3. Uncheck the box for “Do not prompt user to authorize new servers or trusted certificate authorities.”

4. Click OK.

Once you insert your VU username and password, accept the certificate if prompted.

Wireless Network Upgrade Project Overview

UNIT is committed to enhancing the University’s technological wireless experience on campus for students, faculty, and staff.  The Wireless Network Upgrade Project is a core component of this commitment. This multi-year project is broken down into multi-phases, and is intended to upgrade the University’s campus-wide wireless data network (VUMobile).

  • Increased Mobility and Wireless Speed: Faster connections to the wireless networks in residential areas, classrooms, and academic/administrative areas.
  • Expanded Coverage and Capacity: More reliable, scalable, and secure wireless infrastructure, providing increased coverage, capacity, and interoperability of wireless computers, smartphones, gaming devices, and applications.

Project Phases

The Wireless Network Upgrade Project will continue to be executed in multiple phases, including: summer 2016, fall 2016, spring 2017, fall-winter 2017, and beyond. 

UNIT is proud to announce that Villanova is now a member of  Eduroam-global Wifi Roaming.  This service is designed to allow active students, faculty, and staff to use their home institution's credentials to connect wirelessly and securely to the Internet while visiting other participating institutions.  With this new offering, there is no need to set up a guest account at the visited institutions. You will be able to use your Villanova MyNova credentials (userid@villanova.edu) to access the wireless network at participating educational and research institutions.  Click here to find out where Eduroam is supported and access a of list of over 300 institutions in the U.S. We will begin to be implementing the service here on Campus during the Summer.
