CRF SUMMER HOUSING AWARD

People walking on campus

As a part of its efforts to support undergraduate research and scholarship, Villanova University reserves a limited number of dormitory rooms for a small number of undergraduate students engaged in full-time research with a faculty member. The CRF Research Summer Housing Award provides funding to VURF grantees and a limited number of summer undergraduate researchers.

Application Process

CRF offers a limited amount of funding to support summer housing for undergraduate researchers who would not otherwise have housing accommodations over the summer months. The CRF Summer Housing Funding Award is intended for students who do not have a place to live near campus over the summer and whose research requires access to campus facilities. Students who have an off-campus lease beginning in the summer should not apply for the CRF Summer Housing Funding Award. VURF grantees who require access to campus facilities and do not have housing near campus are guaranteed support for summer housing and meals (19 meals per week). The remaining funds will be distributed as equitably as possible based on the applicant pool. Due to increasing demand, CRF anticipates that it will be able to fund approximately 50% of non-VURF requests.

The application link will be available from April 1 (12:00 A.M.) until April 15 (12:00 A.M.). The deadline to submit an application for funding is April 15 at 12:00 AM. Late applications will not be accepted.

The application link can be found here.

Summer Housing Funding Award

The CRF Research Summer Housing Funding Award provides financial support for the Summer Session III housing and meal package, which includes 19 meals per week. Move-in and move-out dates for Summer Session III will be announced soon.

Students should refer to Residence Life for information on applying for summer housing and any housing details or logistics.

To be considered for the CRF Research Summer Housing Funding Award, an undergraduate student must be involved in independent study/research/scholarship and receiving a stipend to support their activity. The undergraduate student commits to working full-time on their research during the period of summer housing; the student may not have outside employment (excluding evenings and weekends). The faculty mentor commits to providing an appropriate level of supervision throughout the summer. All recipients of the CRF Summer Housing Award are expected to present the results of their summer research at the Student Research Symposium, held each Fall. Summer housing is not intended for part-time or full-time employees hired to support faculty research/scholarship activities. Eligibility is limited to rising sophomore, junior, and senior Villanova undergraduate students only.

This award is for funding only; students must also apply for summer housing through Residence Life. Students may register for summer housing with Residence Life at any time and do not need to wait for the CRF Research Summer Housing Funding decisions to be released.

Note: Students whose projects are fully remote are ineligible for the CRF Research Summer Housing Award, which is intended for students whose research requires access to campus facilities and who do not have alternate housing arrangements near campus.
