US Shootings

Dear Members of the Villanova Community,
This weekend, we celebrated and said farewell to the Villanova University Class of 2022. It was a festive and heartfelt celebration, and I offer my sincerest thanks to everyone who contributed to creating a memorable send-off and celebration for the Class of 2022 and their families.
However, I would be remiss in not pointing out the stark difference between our joyous and celebratory events, with the tragic and hate-filled acts that occurred in our country over the weekend. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families and friends whose lives are forever changed by the horrific acts in Buffalo, Houston and California. And for all in our community who feel particularly vulnerable in light of these events, my heart is with you.
I know all Villanovans join me in feeling disturbed and heartbroken that these senseless acts of violence continue to occur. As we work through these challenging times, let us pray for the souls who have lost their lives unjustly, and for their families and friends who continue to mourn. Let us work toward healing the wounds that have been created in our communities and our country. And let us pray for a more just and peaceful world in which acts, such as these, cease to occur.
As Villanovans we must do our part to create it—starting right here with our own community, and in the communities that we live, to ensure a more just and equitable world for all.
With prayers for all,
Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA
President
