HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK

Started in 1975 by the Augustinian priest Ray Jackson and a group of Villanova students, Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week now takes place on 700 campuses and communities nationwide. Its pillars are education, advocacy and service.

In this weeklong event sponsored by the Center for Peace and Justice Education, the Villanova community discusses the root causes of poverty, especially food insecurity and homelessness.

Our mission is to:

  1. Raise awareness through education
  2. Show solidarity
  3. Take immediate action steps
  4. Advocate for long-term solutions
