Villanova University Awarded It’s On Us PA Grant by the Pennsylvania Department of Education

VILLANOVA, Pa. (March 20, 2024) - The Pennsylvania Department of Education announced that Villanova University has been awarded an It’s On Us PA grant to enhance sexual violence prevention, awareness and response efforts at colleges and universities across the state. Villanova was one of 37 institutions in the Commonwealth awarded grant support, which funding will run through May 2025.

Villanova has long been affiliated with the national It’s On Us campaign as a member of the BIG EAST Conference. In September 2014, Villanova—alongside BIG EAST member institutions—became a charter partner of It's On Us, which was launched by then-President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. The mission of It’s On Us is to build the movement to combat campus sexual assault by engaging all students, ultimately creating safer campus environments.

Villanova is committed to fostering a community of respect, where all members feel and are safe. The University has a proactive approach to education and training for its community on sexual violence prevention; extensive resources and a caring approach for supporting sexual violence survivors; and a comprehensive, thorough and equitable process for reporting and addressing sexual violence.

As a recipient of the It’s On Us PA grant, Villanova will use funding for a number of initiatives, including increasing awareness of campus prevention resources, programming and events, updating promotional materials on available University services, and enhancing outreach and partnerships with local rape crisis centers.
