ANTHONY DEANGELIS '10 MSF
Current job: Managing Director, Head of Loan Syndication – Axos Bank
Location: Chicago, IL
Three years after completing his undergraduate degree in Finance and beginning his career, Anthony DeAngelis entered the Master of Science in Finance program at Villanova School of Business. Upon graduation in 2010, he began a steady climb in corporate banking. Today he is Managing Director, Head of Loan Syndication, for Axos Bank. He calls earning his MSF at VSB, “transformative personally and professionally.”
Why did you choose VSB over other business schools?
I liked the cohort approach in which my classmates and I took the majority of our classes together. Also, all the courses were graduate level with advanced material. And, I loved the campus. You have four major banking markets within a short distance. And, Villanova has a passionate alumni base. It was an easy choice for me and one that changed my career. It’s a wonderful program.
What were your favorite courses or learning experiences?
I loved all the professors. Some of my favorite courses included Financial Institutions—which was highly relevant for my career—Student Managed Fund, Financial Modeling and Valuation, and Risk. Through Villanova, I also met Warren Buffet, which was an incredible experience.
How has the alumni network benefited you since graduating?
The Villanova community and network are tremendous. Because everyone took the same classes and we spent the entire experience together, I made great friends and we’ve done business together. I used the network to secure interviews and ultimately a full-time job. To this day I still interact with the professors.
