Accounting Career Awareness Program
VSB’s Department of Accounting and the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) co-hosted an Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) this past summer for students from Philadelphia area high schools. The objective of ACAP is to promote college education and careers in accounting to students from underrepresented minority groups.
The weeklong event, held virtually due to the pandemic, offered students valuable knowledge and insights into the business world and college preparation. Stephen Liedtka, PhD, Associate Professor of Accounting, provided an introduction to accounting. The program also included a student-led virtual tour of Villanova’s campus and an information session with Erica Woods, associate director of Admission. Six Villanova student counselors assisted with the program.
The week culminated with a case competition and celebratory dinner at the Inn at Villanova. The keynote speaker for the event was Darryl Reynolds ’17 CLAS, member of the 2016 National Championship Men’s Basketball team and founder of the Stay Tuned Network multimedia company.
