Villanova Dining Services reduces waste at every step of the food preparation and delivery process. Whether its through composting, responsible oil handling or recycling we know that by making less waste we are doing more for our planet. 

 

WASTE REDUCTION PRACTICES

PRE-CONSUMER WASTE COMPOSTING

100% RECYCLED NAPKINS

  • Made from 100% recycled post consumer content, no bleach and no virgin paper fiber is used in production. In Dining Halls, we moved napkin locations to the dining tables, reducing consumption as people only take what they need. 

TRAYLESS DINING

  • Reduces wasted food and beverages, while using less water and chemicals needed to wash trays. It also reduces the amount of pre and post-consumer compost entering the sewer system.

RESPONSIBLE OIL HANDLING

  • Oilmatic supplies us with an expeller pressed, trans fat and preservative free, high oleic canola oil through a closed system and collects our used oil for recycling into biodiesel and paint.

POST-CONSUMER WASTE

  • Partnering with a local company to turn waste into energy and with Facilities to recycle helps to reduce waste.
