Students expecting degrees for December 2013:
December 2013 degrees will be posted to transcripts in January, 2014 once the registrar's office receives notice of graduation from the dean's and advisement offices. Diplomas will be mailed directly to the address specified on your Prospective Graduation Form or Application to Graduate. Degree candidates: please view your academic transcript on line via myNOVA to ensure your degree has been posted before ordering a transcript.
The Office of the Registrar participates in the graduation process by tracking which students intend to graduate, ordering their diplomas, and preparing the commencement program. To ensure accuracy of this information and to declare how you would like your name to appear, Undergraduate and Graduate Arts & Science students should complete a Prospective Graduate Form. This is available from the Graduation channel (box) on the Student tab of myNOVA.
All other graduate-level (graduate business, graduate engineering and graduate nursing) students should instead complete an Application for Granting Master’s Degree, available from the appropriate academic department. Part-time students should submit Prospective Graduate card to the Part-Time Studies Office.
Students who graduate upon completion of the Summer or Fall semesters will receive degrees dated September 1st or December 31st. These students are invited to participate in the following May's commencement ceremony, and their names will appear as September & December Graduates in the commencement program.
Diplomas are given to students as part of the May commencement ceremony. Summer graduates, Fall graduates, and those who choose not to attend commencement may either pick up diplomas in person at the Office of the Registrar (203 Tolentine Hall) or have them mailed. Students must meet all financial obligations before their diploma can be released.
The diploma size is 16"W x 12"H.
Students can verify their degree status by checking their individual records from the Graduation channel on the student tab of myNOVA.
You can receive the most updated Commencement information from the Office of the President's website.
