Dear Faculty and Staff,
It is with a great deal of enthusiasm that we welcomed the establishment of the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women’s Leadership at Villanova earlier this month. Made possible through a generous $5 million dollar gift from Anne Welsh McNulty ’75 CLAS, Institute will serve as a central resource where Villanovans can find academic, extracurricular and professional programs to help women excel in their chosen fields.
This interdisciplinary institute will collaborate with existing programs and departments to coordinate and communicate the many activities that foster women’s leadership across campus. The McNulty Institute will welcome women and men of all backgrounds, disciplines and abilities and focus on four main areas of opportunity:
I’d like to thank the members of the University-wide McNulty Institute Steering Committee, chaired by Amy Fleischer, PhD, Professor and Chair, Department of Mechanical Engineering, for all of their hard work in crafting the Institute’s guiding vision. I’d also like to thank Dr. Fleischer for her continued service on this initiative by agreeing to serve as chair of the search committee tasked with selecting a director for the McNulty Institute.
I truly believe that there is no better time to be at Villanova, and the creation of the McNulty Institute is just another example of the great things happening on our campus. I look forward to seeing the opportunities that this new institute creates, and the positive impact it will have on our community.
