Education Abroad Photo Contest

As a way to showcase our students' time abroad, we invite all study abroad participants from the previous academic year to submit your favorite photos for the annual Education Abroad Photo Contest! Approximately 25 photos will be chosen to be displayed in the Office of Education Abroad for a full year, and the top three will be chosen to receive a prize. 

Contest Rules:   

  1. Be a current or former participant with a VU approved study abroad program within the previous academic year.
  2. Submit the highest resolution version you have (300 dpi or higher)
  3. Entries must be original photographs either taken by the student or featuring the student while abroad.
  4. Follow OEA on Instagram and Facebook

The Type of Photos We're Looking For:

  • Photos of Villanova Students participating in or experiencing local culture
  • Photos which highlight experiential opportunities in which you were involved while abroad (e.g. internships, service learning, group excursions etc.).
  • Photos of Scenery, Landscapes, Objects, and/or Iconic Imagery of your host city or country.

Prizes:

  • $100 Wildcard -- 1st Place
  • $75 Wildcard -- 2nd Place
  • $50 Wildcard -- 3rd Place

The winners will be chosen by a panel of diverse staff and faculty from around Villanova University. You will be judged on creativity, style, clarity of expression, and originality.

Photograph License and Release

For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, and intending to be legally bound by this Photograph License & Release: 

1. I hereby grant Villanova University (“Villanova”) an unlimited, irrevocable, and unrestricted right, license, and permission to reproduce, distribute, use, re-use, publish, and republish, and create modifications or derivative works of, the photographs described above (the “Photograph(s)”), whether in print, electronic or any other format, without fees, royalties or attribution to me.  To the extent that the Photograph(s) include my likeness, I hereby grant Villanova an unlimited, irrevocable, and unrestricted right, license, and permission to use my likeness in connection with the Photograph(s), with or without my name included.  To the extent that the Photograph(s) include any other easily identifiable individual(s), I have obtained the permission of such individual(s), and hereby grant to Villanova permission, to use each such individual’s likeness and name in connection with the Photograph(s).

2. I acknowledge and agree that Villanova and any third party acting on Villanova’s behalf shall have the right to exercise the rights and licenses in the Photograph(s) without restrictions or limitations for any educational, promotional, commercial, or non-commercial purpose that Villanova University or those acting on Villanova University’s behalf and authority deem appropriate.

3. I further understand that this Photograph License & Release will extend in perpetuity to assignees, grantees, lessees, or licensees of Villanova, along with any person or entity to whom Villanova gives permission. I hereby release and hold harmless Villanova and those acting on Villanova’s behalf and authority from liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right in connection with my likeness, name, the Photograph(s), and use thereof.  I hereby waive any moral rights and any right I may have to inspect or approve the use of the Photograph(s), my likeness, or name.
