FAMILY INFORMATION

The strength of the Villanova experience comes in part from the University's welcoming community. We've gathered useful information here to help our newest members get acclimated ahead of New Student Orientation.

Planning Travel

Some families prefer to travel to the local area on Tuesday, August 18 while others prefer to travel on Move-In Day, Wednesday, August 19. Our Family Orientation program on Thursday, August 20 includes opportunities for families to attend presentations, a resource fair, our welcoming address and Mass. A family picnic follows Mass and is a great opportunity for students and families to gather before saying goodbye.

Philadelphia Skyline

Looking for hotels, restaurants, shopping and more? Villanova is approximately 12 miles outside of Philadelphia—home of Benjamin Franklin and the City of Brotherly Love. There are many exciting and educational attractions in Philadelphia and we highlight just a few of the many fun things to do in Philly.

Nova Guides is the official Villanova University app for special events, such as New Student Orientation and Commencement, and places important information right at your fingertips. With a simple download, you’ll gain access to the latest schedules, maps and other relevant information intended to help you get the most out of your time with us.

Move-In Day is an exciting time as we welcome the Class of 2024 to campus! There are no other Orientation events scheduled for families on Move-In Day. Many families utilize the entire day to get students settled in the hall. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions, and we encourage you to download the Nova Guides app for information on office hours and dining hall options.

In early August, you'll receive a mailing from Residence Life that includes a hangtag for your vehicle for Move-In Day. This will contain personalized information about your assigned timeslot and residence hall, which will help us direct you when upon arrival.

Please visit the schedule page for more information.

On the morning of Opening Day, we focus Orientation toward families of new students. We offer a variety of information sessions as well as a Resource Fair throughout the morning. Families are invited to attend any of the morning programs they would like.

At 1:15 p.m., we officially kick-off our program for families and students together with our University Welcome. A picnic dinner will conclude Opening Day for families, ending at 6:30 p.m. to allow time for students to say goodbye before continuing with Orientation.

Please visit the schedule page for more information.

Before arriving in August, you will receive many mailings from Villanova. We'll provide you the opportunity to access some of the various resources pertaining to new students and parents but particularly those pertaining to Orientation. Class of 2024 publications will be available soon.

For a comprehensive list of our resources specifically desgined for parents and families, please visit our parents website.

Since Move-In Day can be a long and tiring day, many families make plans to stay overnight on Move-In Day and attend Opening Day the following morning.

For your convenience, you can find a list of area hotels on the Visit Villanova section of the Parents website.

The Class of 2024 will receive weekly VU101 emails designed to introduce new students and their families to Villanova and our community. Please click on the links below to read our correspondence:
