Dr. Ruth McDermott received a Fulbright-Saastamoinen Foundation Health and Environmental Sciences Award for teaching and research at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) from August to December.

Dr. McDermott taught two courses at the University of Eastern Finland’s Nursing Masters in Public Health program and within the University International program related to global health. Read more about her experience here.

2018 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant Recipient

Dr. Garrett Clayton received a Fulbright Scholar Grant to teach and conduct research on his project titled: "Robotics and Mechatronics in Cambodia: Teaching, Research, and Community Engagement" at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia in Phnom Penh.

Dr. Clayton has visited Cambodia five times and built a strong relationship with the Golden West Humanitarian Foundation. He completed senior design projects, a master’s thesis, and two ongoing doctoral projects on mechatronics and robotics for humanitarian mine action. Dr. Clayton’s four-month stay in the country will begin in April 2018. Read more here.

2017 Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Advanced (Defense) Science and Technology

Fulbright Distinguished Chair Awards are among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program. These awards comprise approximately 40 distinguished lecturing, research, and lecturing/research awards that range from three to 12 month tenures.

Dr. Amin served as a member of the Fulbright National Screening Committee for the 2020-21 Fulbright U.S. Student Program to United Kingdom. The Committee met in December 2019. The UK program covered science, engineering, and public health. Dr. Amin is the recipient of the 2017 Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Advanced Science and Technology, where he spent five months in 2018 at the host institution, Defense Science and Technology Group, Adelaide, Australia.

Served as a Fulbright scholar with the law faculty at the University of Zagreb in Croatia. While in Croatia, Samahon taught a seminar in spring 2017 on comparative approaches to public administrative law, with an emphasis on transparency.

In March 2022, Samahon taught a comparative constitutional law course at the University of Verona in Italy on a Fulbright Specialist Grant.

Judge Gary S. Glazer was affiliated with Paris’s Institut des Hautes Études sur la Justice, where he gave four lectures in the French language in Paris in October 2005. The participants were members of the judiciary, the legal community, and other interested individuals. He spoke on various topics, including how judges are elected on the state level.  

He was able to gain insight into how the French attendees viewed the U.S legal system and processes. The experience also gave him a strong interest in foreign legal systems, which he has since avidly pursued. In August 2020, he was again selected for the same Fulbright program and plans to teach in Uganda.
