When Ingenuity Meets Demand
As the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the US, a critical question loomed: Would there be enough ventilators to keep seriously ill patients alive? Funded in part by a generous donation, the NovaVent project was kicked off in spring 2020 and includes a team of engineering and nursing volunteers from across the University—and the country.
Thank a Villanova Nurse
Villanova nurses continue to play vital roles in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, from caring for our loved ones to spearheading solutions for the most critical issues in healthcare. In recognition of National Nurses Week (May 6-12), Villanovans are coming together to show their gratitude and support future Villanova nurses.

VOICES FROM CAMPUS
“There have been [student] teams working on unemployment law, employment law, mortgage foreclosure, tenant-landlord issues, wills, anything you can think of that might have changed in the legal world as a result of the pandemic.”
- Melissa Hartlipp ’22 CWSL, COVID-19 Legal Research Project
“I had the opportunity to…make sure that student experiences and student voices were being included as we considered everything about how we rebuilt the campus experience to make sure that students were able to be here, in person.”
- Caroline Levine ’22, Vice President of the Student Government Association
"It didn't surprise me, but the Villanova community really came together through this crisis…even our alumni, parents, and others who helped us find jobs and internships for our students in what very quickly became a difficult job market.”
- Patrick G. Maggitti, PhD, University Provost
