The campus art loan program provides artwork for display in public areas on campus and for Villanova staff and faculty to appreciate on a daily basis.

A limited selection of artwork is available for loan, and each loan is considered on a case-by-case basis.

LOAN REQUEST GUIDELINES

If you are considering borrowing works, the following guidelines apply:

  • Offices requesting art must meet minimum requirements in terms of security and environmental factors.
  • Borrower may not loan or transfer piece to another person.
  • Borrower must contact the Villanova Art Gallery if moving to another location on campus or leaving the university.
  • Art loans may be recalled at any time for purposes of conservation, research, exhibition or limited due to their condition.

To make an art loan request:

  1. Complete the associated form and make note that the individual completing the request must be the individual borrowing the art piece.
  2. The curator of the University Art Collection will book a time to measure the space(s).
  3. The curator will choose options that fit the space and match the interest of the borrower.
  4. The borrower, or their department admin, will create a facilities form for installation.
  5. The borrower will sign and return the loan form once it is received.

DONATING ART TO OUR COLLECTION

The University welcomes art donations in all mediums, throughout the ages, and from around the world that meet collection criteria. All proposed donations undergo a rigorous review process that may take up to six months or more, depending on the art object(s) under consideration.

Acquisitions for the Villanova University Art Collection are made on the basis of an art object's role in supporting the mission of the Art Gallery, Art Collection and the University as a whole and are accepted at the sole discretion of the University. To ensure proper tax credit, appraised gifts must be received no later than December 1st of the calendar year in which tax deduction is sought.

Please let us know you are interested in making a donation by contacting us.
