These documents are the result of the Office of the Provost’s ongoing efforts to improve service to PIs and enhance the research administration function. They were generated as part of the University’s engagement with external consultants, and reflect the collaboration of the academic enterprise with various service centers across the University, including Financial Affairs, Human Resources, UNIT and Compliance.
The “Roles and Responsibilities Matrix” documents actions related to research administration and identifies the administrative function responsible for completing each step. Based on feedback from the Deans, we developed summaries of the roles of the Deans, Chairs, College Finance Managers, Departmental Research Administrators and PIs to make this data more accessible.
As the University continues to grow its research portfolio, clearly outlining and communicating responsibilities related to research administration is an important step. This will ensure the University is effectively supporting sponsored awards and using our resources efficiently.
The Office of the Provost intends to update this document periodically to reflect the University’s changing business needs. In the interim, we welcome your feedback.
