Being First Generation can be defined many different ways but most often it means that neither of your parents have earned a bachelor’s degree making you the first generation in your family to do so.
For the second time this November, Villanova will participate in the national celebration week of first generation students. This event, which coincides with the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965, celebrates the contributions and achievements of first-generation students at our nations’ universities.
From its founding to educate those who were excluded from traditional universities, to the veterans returning to college after WWII, to the 21st century student looking to start her/his own family’s legacy, Villanova has been a place for first-generation students to thrive.
Join the Villanova community as we recognize our First-Gen students, staff and faculty's accomplishments during this week celebration and support them as they say I’M FIRST!
