The College of Professional Studies (CPS) offers three undergraduate degrees, including a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS), a Bachelor of Arts (BA), and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree, as well as post-baccalaureate and undergraduate, credit-bearing certificates. CPS offers additional degrees in partnership with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Online, on campus and hybrid programs make it possible for adult students to balance educational and professional aspirations with life’s commitments. And with a faculty comprised of over 200 scholars and expert industry practitioners, our students benefit from countless years of real world experience.

The varied curricula incorporate applicable, relevant, and engaging courses of study available in accelerated formats, including combined Bachelor-Master’s programs and FastForward courses. In addition, visiting students may take individual undergraduate courses.

BIS vs. BA

The primary difference between a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree is the core curriculum that must be completed for each.

Students completing the BIS degree follow a 45-credit core curriculum. This provides more flexibility and choices in selecting classes.

Students completing the BA degree follow the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 50-credit core curriculum, which includes foreign language courses and science courses with a lab.
