Research and Resilience
When awarded a summer 2020 Villanova Undergraduate Research Fellowship, Hannah Darensbourg ’22 was slated to work in Villanova’s on-campus research garden. Instead, she found herself fabricating and installing beds of her own on the rooftop of her brownstone apartment building in Harlem, New York. Donor support is at the root of Hannah’s unique research experience.
Finding His Passion in Rwanda
Scholarships helped make a Villanova education possible for Nick Carney ’16. Inspired to make an impact, he is using marketing, business and filmmaking skills to support public health and arts organizations in Rwanda. “The beautiful thing about the experience I’ve had since graduating from Villanova is how everything continued to build upon the previous step,” he said.
Partnering with Philadelphia Futures
Villanova has been named an official partner of Philadelphia Futures—a partnership that will grow to provide 12 students with a full scholarship—including tuition, room and board—annually. Since announcing the partnership in March 2019, Villanova has received more than $4 million in gifts from generous donors to support students and their academic success.

The Villanova journey may begin on campus, but it continues long after graduation. A livestream broadcast on 1842 Day, Villanova’s annual day of giving, shared a few ways that Villanova is preparing students and alumni for successful and meaningful careers.
