2016 CPS Awards and Convocation

The month of May has been filled with firsts for the College of Professional Studies, including the first annual CPS Awards Dinner—which celebrated Paralegal graduates, Alcohol and Drug Counseling certificate graduates, and Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) Honor Society inductees–, the first class of official CPS graduates, and the inaugural CPS Convocation Ceremony. Each event brought a greater sense of community within the College and reinforced what we already knew…that our students persevere and persist and take pride in their studies regardless of obstacles in their path. The challenges our adult students face are many and varied, from family obligations to job responsibilities and everything in-between. It makes celebrating their achievements and graduation that much more thrilling, and 2016 was truly one to celebrate!
In addition to celebrating CPS graduates and ASL inductees, Sam DiLullo and Angela Heinbach were also honored.
Professor DiLullo was honored for his dedicated service to Villanova as the longtime Paralegal Program Coordinator. This was his last semester as the coordinator. His leadership over the years has played a key role in making the CPS paralegal program one of the most highly respected in the region.
Angela Heinbach, Executive Administrative Assistant to Dean Tyksinski, was awarded the first Steve Merritt Award in honor of the late Villanova University Dean of Enrollment Services. The Dean’s choice award was presented to Ms. Heinbach by Steve Merritt’s former colleagues for her humble service to Villanova and her commitment to live out the Villanova virtues of Veritas, Unitas, Caritas. Congratulations to both Professor DiLullo and Ms. Heinbach!
