Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Welcomes New Faculty
Kelly (Donmoyer) Good ’09 CE, PhD, PE
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has brought on two new faculty members, including a Villanova Engineering alumna. Kelly (Donmoyer) Good ’09 CE, PhD, PE, is returning to the College as a visiting assistant teaching professor with expertise in water, energy and environmental systems. She will teach Mechanics, Fluid Behavior and Graphical Communications, and will also serve as an advisor in the senior capstone design course.
Dr. Good earned her PhD in 2018 from Carnegie Mellon University where she researched the effects of energy systems on drinking water quality. Prior to graduate school, she worked as a water utility planning engineer.
Now living in Philadelphia with her husband and 3-year-old son, she says, “I’m thrilled to return to the department to have the opportunity to teach and interact with the next generation of civil and environmental engineers!”
Shweta Shrestha, PhD
Joining Dr. Good in the department is Shweta Shrestha, PhD, a native of Nepal with expertise in geotechnical engineering, finite element modeling of geotechnical systems, soil-structure interaction and design optimization. While earning her MS and PhD at Clemson University, Dr. Shrestha served as a graduate research assistant with a focus on:
- Analytical design, design optimization, and finite element modeling of a piled-raft foundation for tall wind turbines
- Development of an innovative foundation for the wind turbine tower through biomimicry
- The applicability of shredded tire in civil engineering infrastructure
As an assistant teaching professor at Villanova, she will lead courses in Engineering Economics, Geosynthetics and Capstone Design.
