College of Engineering Celebrates Class of 2018
Despite weather that forced the festivities indoors, on May 19, 2018, Villanova University celebrated 323 new Engineering graduates during the College’s annual convocation ceremony. From a class of 265 undergraduates, the following were recognized with outstanding student medallions from their respective departments:
- Cara E. Kobylarz, ChE
- Tre Trecost, CEE
- Caitlin R. Berner, CpE
- Gabriel A. Lopez, EE
- Rachael S. Miller, ME
The Robert D. Lynch award, the College's highest honor for a graduating senior, was presented to Stephen T. Spada, Chemical Engineering.
Out of 71 master's degree graduates, outstanding student awards were presented to:
- Anthony Vallace, MSChE
- Sergio Carvajal Sanchez, MSCE
- Ava G. Calvano, MSSE
The Outstanding Doctoral Student Award was shared by Andrew Golato ’14 MSME, PhD, and Chemical Engineering student Xianhua Li, PhD.
Faisal Ahmed ’17 ME, ’18 MSME was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Medallion, which is presented to a graduating PhD or master's degree student who has achieved distinction in academics and research, as well as exemplary leadership and service.
Finally, two Engineering faculty also were recognized during the weekend’s ceremonies:
- Associate Professor Dorothy Skaf, PhD, Chemical Engineering, won the College’s Reverend William F. Farrell Award, which recognizes a faculty or staff member who demonstrates exemplary personal concern for students
- Professor David Dinehart, PhD, Civil and Environmental Engineering, was presented with the University's Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Outstanding Teaching and the Lawrence C. Gallen, OSA, Faculty Service Award.
