Villanova University College of Engineering invites students, faculty, staff, corporate partners, friends and alumni to submit photographs or graphic images for "The Art of Engineering” exhibition.
What does “engineering” mean to you? Do you find that engineering also inspires you in other creative ways? Do you see engineering themes in art and in the natural or virtual worlds? Do you want to make an artistic statement on the professional or cultural landscape? Submit works that evoke your creativity or may foster discussion around engineering themes. Works should be a reflection or expression of some aspect of what engineering means to you.
- Submissions will be accepted from College of Engineering students, faculty, staff, friends and alumni
- Media types accepted: Graphics or photographs
- Images must be submitted in 300 dpi - jpeg, tiff or pdf format
- Digital entries only accepted at firstname.lastname@example.org
- Entries must include a copy of the legal agreement (complete pdf, save and attach to email)
- Maximum of 2 entries per person
Entries must be original, entirely the work of the entrant and not based on any copyrighted work—no reproductions will be accepted. A committee of three Engineering faculty or staff members will select the works to be publicly displayed using the work, title and theme information only. Descriptions may be edited for clarity or brevity. Limit of approximately 30 words.
Entry Deadline: February 1, 2020
Artists Notified: February 7, 2020
Exhibit Reception: February 20, 2020
A maximum of TWO entries per artist is permitted. All pieces will be displayed on poster board or stretched canvas in a standard display size. Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work, alter a work, or withdraw or remove a work after it has been accepted. All work will be presented to the public via displays in CEER and will be archived by the College and may be used in future exhibits or auctions. Display pieces may be auctioned off after one year by the College. Proceeds from the auction will benefit engineering student organizations. The auctions are open to the public. The College reserves the right to refuse any entry which does not match the images submitted or meet the criteria enumerated here. All exhibited work becomes the property of the College and will not be returned to the artist. Accepted works are then considered property of the College of Engineering. A copy of the signed agreement must accompany your submission by the deadline.
Notification of accepted or non-accepted work will be via email as early as possible after the deadline, but no later than February 7, 2020. You are expected to attend the Gallery Reception on February 20, 2020, however it is not mandatory.
The College of Engineering reserves the right to photograph entries and gallery events for purposes of publicity, documentation and promotion.
Legal Agreement must accompany submission.
