Order of the Engineer Induction Ceremony (Virtual)
The Order of the Engineer is a national organization which has promoted ethics and fostered a sense of pride within the engineering profession for nearly 50 years. During the ceremony, initiates voluntarily pledge an oath to uphold ethical standards and to serve humanity by making the best use of Earth’s precious wealth. Initiates then receive a stainless-steel ring to be worn on the pinky finger of their dominant hand. Each time the ring strikes a solid surface, the engineer is reminded of their pledge. The Order is not a membership organization; there are no meetings to attend or dues to pay. Instead, the Order fosters a unity of purpose and the honoring of one’s lifelong pledge. Since 2015 Villanova has initiated 160 engineers into the Order.
There is a cost of $10 if you would like to participate in the ceremony and take the pledge. The ceremony is open to graduated engineers and to students graduating in May. The $10 cost covers the stainless steel ring, wallet card, and wall certificate. There is no cost if you would just like to watch the ceremony. Participants must register by Monday, February 22 @ noon; you should receive your ring about two weeks after the ceremony.
